How Often Should Church AVL Equipment Be Replaced?

Equipment should not be replaced just because it is old.

It should be replaced when keeping it creates a bigger problem than replacing it.

Some equipment can run reliably for a very long time.

Other technology becomes obsolete much faster because formats, software, networking or connectivity change.

We typically look at four things:

Reliability: Is it failing?

Capability: Can it still accomplish what you need?

Support: Can it still be repaired or updated?

Risk: What happens on Sunday if it stops working?

A ten-year-old amplifier that works perfectly and has an easy replacement path may not be a problem.

A ten-year-old video switcher that occasionally crashes and has no backup may be a very different conversation.

Build replacement planning into your budget before equipment fails.

That gives you the ability to make intentional decisions instead of emergency purchases.
