Church Audio Quality: What Your Congregation Expects
Most people in your congregation don't know what compressor you're using.
They don't care.
They care whether they can understand the sermon. They care whether the music feels good. They care whether something is painfully loud.
They notice when feedback happens. They notice when they can't hear.
That should tell us something about priorities.
Get the audio fundamentals right
It is very easy for audio people to spend enormous amounts of energy chasing the final five percent while obvious problems remain unresolved.
Start with fundamentals.
Intelligibility. Balance. Consistency. Appropriate volume. Good sources. A properly tuned system.
Then refine.
Audio quality isn't about impressing other audio engineers.
It's about helping the congregation engage without the sound system becoming the story.
